What is a Qualified Medical Evaluator?
A Qualified Medical Evaluator, or QME, is a qualified physician certified by the Division of Workers' Compensation – Medical Unit to provide examinations for injured workers. These evaluations are used to determine the type, severity, and potential cause of injuries.
After a medical evaluation, the QME writes a medical-legal report documenting their findings. Medical-legal reports can be used to help determine an injured worker’s eligibility for workers’ compensation benefits.
